How This Started
In 2021, I was playing PUBG Mobile Lite and noticed a few players on my team using stylish names. I got curious and looked into it, and found out I could turn my own name into a stylish version using a name generator website. When I tried it, the styles did not display correctly on my device, since I was playing on a low end phone at the time. That single problem stuck with me. I decided that if I ever built something like this myself, it would work properly across different devices, not just the newest ones.

A Bit More About Me
My interest in stylish names and text actually goes back further than NAMESTYLES itself. After PUBG Mobile Lite, I moved on to playing Minecraft, which has its own strange relationship with names and text. Typing a section symbol before a number on a sign changes the color of the text. Naming a mob Dinnerbone famously flips it upside down. There are a few more tricks like this built into nametags. That early curiosity about how text and names could be changed and played with is part of why Glitched Text is one of the categories on this site today.
